Pair of Mary-Lou Earthenware Plates
A total of 6 genuine “Mary-Lou” hand decorated Digoin-Sarreguemines earthenware plates, sold in sets of 2. These pieces were primarily made in the mid-20th century, in the 1940s and 1950s. Popular with vintage collectors due to their hand-painted details and French origin.
They are decorated in a gorgeous floral pattern in tones of blue and cherry, traditional of the French countryside aesthetic. The perfect hosts for your morning pastries, a slice of cake or your next long lunch.
We first noticed the striking pattern of these plates when browsing a brocante in Provence but were quickly impressed by their markings and origin upon closer inspection. These pieces were part of a larger collection of “Mary-Lou” dinnerware at the brocante and thought to have been used previously in a restaurant, vineyard or large private estate. A matching oval serving platter was also sourced and is sold separately.
Slightly imperfect in the best way, with soft pottery crazing and age marks, but overall, in good, usable condition with no chips. Slight signs of wear are part of their charm. Hand wash only.
