Large Cream Confit Pot
A large vintage French confit pot, in a warm creamy glaze and with delicate turning lines from the potter’s wheel.
Confit pots are typical of the Southwest and Burgundy or Lyon regions of France. They are becoming harder to come by, especially in sizes like this one.
Once used in rural kitchens for storing preserved foods and cooking essentials, it now makes a beautiful standalone sculptural styling piece in your kitchen or living room. It also acts as the perfect vessel for flowers or as a centrepiece on your dining table.
This piece is a moment in its own right, and we would style it as a vessel with dried florals on an island bench for a country chic feel.
This confit pot is in good condition, but does show small dents, consistent with its age. This is part of its charm. Hand wash only. When styled with florals, we recommend placing a clear jug or container inside with water, rather than pouring water into the confit itself, to avoid any seeping of moisture. Measuring approximately 22cm tall and 24cm wide across its handles.
