"Still Glides The Stream and Shall Forever Glide"
A vintage framed reproduction print after the revered Arthur Streeton's "Still Glides the Stream and Shall Forever Glide" (1890) which currently resides in the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
The original is a masterpiece of Australian impressionism, painted by Streeton at the Eaglemont Homestead near Heidelburg, depicting the Yarra River and Dandenong Ranges as they were in 1890.
This likely 1940s-1960s reproduction boasts softly faded tones and an aged timber and gilt frame. To us, this piece carries the quiet familiarity of the Australian countryside. Its sense of nostalgia is highlighted by it's title, which acknowledges the depicted Victorian countryside was there in 1890 and will forever remain, despite the world changing around it.
The reverse of this framed reproduction retains an Art Gallery of New South Wales label, a quiet detail that speaks to the piece's history and past life.
Complete with wire for hanging. Measuring approximately 42cm tall x 22cm wide. Please note all our pieces show signs of age and wear, this is part of their charm.
