Mary-Lou Earthenware Serving Platter
A genuine “Mary-Lou” hand decorated Digoin-Sarreguemines earthenware serving platter. These pieces were primarily made in the mid-20th century, in the 1940s and 1950s. Popular with vintage collectors due to their hand-painted details and French origin.
They are decorated in a gorgeous floral pattern in tones of blue and cherry, traditional of the French countryside aesthetic. The perfect host for a cheeseboard, assortment of morning pastries or even your perfumes and trinkets.
We first noticed the striking pattern of this platter when browsing a brocante in Provence but were quickly impressed by the markings and origin upon closer inspection. These pieces were part of a larger collection of “Mary-Lou” dinnerware at the brocante and thought to have been used previously in a restaurant, vineyard or large private estate. A matching 6 plates (sold in sets of 2) were also sourced and are sold separately.
Slightly imperfect in the best way, with soft pottery crazing and age marks, but overall, in good, usable condition with no chips. Slight signs of wear are part of the charm. Hand wash only.
